This is the bacteria called Lactobacillus Acidophilus....
I wanted to start sharing with you what we keep around the house for our "medical needs".
* I would like to preface this by saying I am not a doctor and you should always speak to your family physician. This is just what my family uses and could possibly help your family as well*
So what is Lactobacillus Acidophilus besides looking like green Cheetos? This is a strain of acne fighting bacteria!
Probiotics!! If you are unfamiliar with what that is let me explain, Probiotics is the healthy bacteria that helps balance your digestive tract; A living microorganism.
When I was young my mom would use plain yogurt for everything! She was like the dad on meet the Fockers. You know the one who would spray windex on everything to help heal it. Unlike Mr. Jack Byrnes my mom was actually right ( as I get older I find myself saying those words more and more often " my mom was actually right"!).
Why do we need probiotics? Like I said a few sentences up you need this "good bacteria" to help maintain your GI balance. BUT WHY? well, I'm glad you asked..
Our stomach health is so important for our skin, our immune system and overall health. Having a balanced stomach could help with things like Acne, UTI, eczema, even inflammation and allergies. It is especially important to be using a probiotic while on an antibiotic!!
What foods naturally have probiotics? Yogurt, sauerkraut, miso soup, soft cheese, kefir and Kombucha just to name a few.
There are also pills and powders you can use. When our babies were little and would get a diaper rash I would use probiotic powder and mix it with coconut oil and layer it on the rash.
What kind do we use? In the past I have used several different brands.. However, what we use now is Balance.
Balance is from the company TreSkin. There are a few reasons why I like this brand in particular. 1. I like that it suggest that you keep it in the refrigerator (this helps me know that the bacteria cells used are legit) 2. this is a 5 strain probiotic!!! You can find cheaper brands but most of them will only have 1 strain ( usually the Lactobacillus Acidophilus) AND will only be around 100million cell per pill. 3. The bottle is a 2 month supply! and lastly 4. Its cheaper than most I have seen that hold up to the same standards of quality per tablet!
Do you use a probiotic? Is it something you keep in your home? If it isn't... it needs to be!
You don't have keep tablets on hand, just some plain yogurt (after all... it fixes everything!)
